90 Minutes in Te Komititanga Square is a ten-edition project that brings together archival giclée prints on cotton and blockchain-backed NFTs on OpenSea. Each edition is drawn from a dedicated 90-minute Matterport Pro 3 LiDAR scan of Te Komititanga Square, freezing a moment I witnessed in person and curating it to resonate with a specific patron. Rather than a traditional sale, these bundles were hand-delivered as tokens of appreciation to ten influential Auckland figures—individuals whose contributions mirror the square’s spirit of community, innovation and care—and each recipient could claim their edition at any price, ensuring accessibility and acknowledging that support takes many forms.
Conceived as a bootstrapping project, this sub-series generated early momentum and growing support for the larger How Many Times Have You Walked Past Me? installation. The process began with continuous LiDAR capture of the square’s ebb and flow, followed by careful selection of frames tied to each patron’s values. Personalised letters and explanatory booklets accompanied each print and NFT, inviting reflection on personal relationships with this shared civic space. Hand-applied 10 c coin stamps embossed in a cruciform compass motif authenticate every piece and echo themes of direction, presence and collective responsibility.
Inspired by the success and learnings of 90 Minutes in Te Komititanga Square, I developed Cost of Passage / Utu o te Haerenga, a five-bust pilot that reclaims everyday parking-sign poles in central Auckland as platforms for visibility and solidarity.
